Chance White Eyes Education

Chance White Eyes began his path in postsecondary education by earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 2007. 

He later completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Critical and Socio-Cultural Studies in Education at the University of Oregon, deepening his expertise in educational theory, equity, and institutional systems. His educational background laid the groundwork for a career rooted in both practice and policy.

Career

Inaugural Director of Tribal Relations

Chance White Eyes currently serves as the Director of Tribal Relations, where he leads efforts to build trust, increase visibility, and support long-term engagement between tribal communities and educational institutions. 

In this role, he provides strategic guidance on partnerships, outreach, and inclusive programming. His work helps shape institutional priorities related to access, equity, and success across postsecondary systems.

As Director, Chance works with leaders, educators, and regional partners to ensure culturally informed practices are embedded in planning and policy. He collaborates on initiatives that support recruitment and retention, curriculum development, and intergovernmental collaboration. His leadership has contributed to new approaches for supporting educational pathways that are both accessible and responsive.

Previous Experience

Before stepping into his current position, Chance spent more than 20 years working in roles that supported outreach, teaching, career planning, and institutional research. He has worked in multiple departments across large public universities, gaining a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing postsecondary institutions.

His early career included roles that focused on guiding scholars through admissions, preparing them for success, and helping them plan for future careers. He facilitated college readiness programs, led workshops on application writing and financial aid, and helped hundreds of families navigate the path to higher education.

In addition to his work in advising and outreach, Chance has held teaching positions that involved leading courses on education systems, cultural representation, and social issues. He has also contributed to data-driven research on educational access, success metrics, and institutional planning. These experiences shaped his understanding of how systems function—and where they must improve.

Through consulting, public speaking, and education-focused initiatives, Chance White Eyes continues to advocate for inclusive learning environments. His career reflects a deep commitment to equity, long-term collaboration, and the value of diverse perspectives in shaping the future of education.
